News: Super Mario Run has been downloaded more than 78 million times

Super Mario Run has achieved more than 78 million downloads since its launch on December 15 for iOS devices, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima is reported to have said during this morning’s financial briefing.

Bloomberg’s Yuji Nakamura has been posting the key info on Twitter.

The five per cent conversion means that approximately four million people have paid to unlock the full videogame – currently priced £7.99/$9.99.

News: Classic city builder Constructor is free for 24 hours

System 3 is has partnered with GOG.com to make classic city building videogame Constructor free to download for 24 hours starting at 2pm GMT today.

The one day offer comes ahead of the April 28 release of Constructor HD for Steam, PlayStation 4, XBox One and Nintendo Switch.

News: Animal Crossing mobile game delayed

A planned Animal Crossing videogame for mobile devices will no longer be released during Nintendo‘s current financial year which ends March 31.

Nintendo said the videogame has been pushed into the next financial year – beginning April 1 – to make room for the launches of Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2 and the March launch of Super Mario Run on Android devices.

Regarding Super Mario Run, Nintendo said the videogame surpassed 40 million downloads in only four days, though hasn’t said how many users went on to make a purchase.

News: Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack needs 58GB of additional HDD space

Whilst PlayStation 4 Pro videogamers are rejoicing at being able to play Fallout 4 Boston at 1440p, PC videogamers with fully tricked out systems will next week be able to download the Fallout 4 Boston High Resolution Texture Pack.

The free download is available to all players, though you’re going to need a top end PC to use it. Bethesda notes that in addition to requiring a mammoth 58GB of HDD space, the PC should boast the following specs:

“If your system can handle it, the Commonwealth will look better than ever,” says Bethesda.

News: Your first look at Rainbow Six Siege’s Jackal Operator

Ubisoft has teased new operator Jackal, a member of the Spanish special forces who is described as a “specialist of difficult terrains”.

Jackal will be form part of the upcoming Operation Velvet Shell DLC, which also includes a second Spanish operator and the new Coastline map set on the shores of Ibiza.

Look out for more info on the DLC during the live stream of the Six Invitational taking place February 3 to 5.

News: Xbox One and Windows 10 Gears of War 4 players can now compete against each other

Gears of War 4 multiplayer is currently cross-play between XBox One and Windows 10 when competing in Social Quickplay, Micro$oft has announced.

The decision to enable cross-platform multiplayer comes after extensive user testing conducted last year, which revealed that not only did Windows 10 and XBox players have closely-matched results when comparing Average KD, Score and Kills per match based on skill ratings, but that the quality of matches on the whole improved.

Although the decision to make Social Quickplay a Cross-play playlist is designed to be permanent, the first few months will be a “trial period” during which player feedback will be closely monitored.

XBox One and Windows 10 players of Dead Rising 4 will today be able to download free updates which introduce new harder difficulty modes, plus five Street Fighter themed costumes.

Two all-new difficulty modes: The two new Story Mode difficulty levels are hard and ultra-hard, each offering a reward of new videogamerscore and achievements (“Chopping Spree” and “Biters Remorse”).

Enemies do more damage; Frank’s weapons break faster and food restores less health than before.

News: Resident Evil 7 tops the UK chart, recording third highest launch in the franchise

Resident Evil 7 has topped the UK video videogame chart in a busy week for new releases, news Chart-Track.

The new first-person take on the Resident Evil franchise recorded the third best week one total for a Resident Evil videogame, a record currently held by 2009’s Resident Evil 5.

A massive 73 per cent of week one retail Resident Evil 7 sales were on PlayStation 4, 25 per cent on XBox One, and two per cent on PC.
