After confirming its no show at E3 this year, you could be forgiven for thinking that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was no more than a fancy CGI trailer that was many years away from actually being a thing. But that isn’t the case, and Sony’s Shawn Layden spoke on the topic.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the President of Sony Interactive America briefly touched on the absence of Death Stranding whilst discussing Sony’s overall E3 performance, and its muted response. When asked if the videogame actually existed outside of two trailers shown to date, he responded:
‘No, no – it’s up and running, it’s been aided tremendously after Kojima-San decided to co-opt the Decima engine from Guerrilla [that powered Horizon Zero Dawn]. And, gosh, that really gave him a leg up to get up and running and test it and have some prototype levels running. I couldn’t explain to you what the videogame is…’
